On Monday 4th July “The Big Bang” African drummers left Pitsmoor and headed for Birmingham.

They had gained a place in the final of the “Music for Youth” National Festival, representing Sheffield. Led by director Bert Rogers they rehearse at Firs Hill School every Tuesday – you may have heard them! They performed brilliantly at the Adrian Bolt Hall and impressed everyone who saw their performance.

Other musical groups participated from all over the country and the standard was very high. All those who went from Pitsmoor to watch the Big Bang performers felt really proud of them. The talent and positivity displayed by our young people was outstanding. Thanks to everyone who continue to support the drummers, including the Sheffield Music Services. Thanks also to Bert for his commitment and hard work and to every member of the group, and their dancers, for a memorable day.
