Earl Marshall Juniors- Season Preparations

The football season may not start until September but Earl Marshall Juniors teams are already working hard to prepare themselves.

The Under 10s recently entered two teams into the Eckington Football Tournament – and ended up facing each other in the final! Yazid Omar’s fine goalkeeping efforts in the semi final penalty shoot out against Heeley FC guaranteed that an Earl Marshall side would go on to lift the trophy. The closely contested final was eventually settled when Daniel Knight curled his corner into the net.

From September the Under 11s players will be making the big step up to 11-a-side football in Division B. The team have already delivered three excellent performances in their initial pre season friendly matches – most recently an impressive 2-1 win over Division A side Middlewood Rovers.

The Under 14s finished 5th in Division A – and have worked hard over the last two months in training with the aim of improving this position in the Under 15s league

Regular friendly games during July and August for both Under 15s and 16s are important for the coaches to look at how individual players adapt to their new positions.

Earl Marshall FC continues to work hard to promote junior football in our local community and the club is keen to recruit young players. There are still some spaces available in next season’s Under 9s and Under 8s teams.

To be eligible boys and girls should be in Years 2, 3 or 4 from September. For further details of weekly training arrangements contact Mick Ashman (Club Secretary) on 07843 731 430.
