Story: Laura Watkins

Pitsmoor Adventure Playground staff have put together a programme of fire safety and fun with fire events. The Adventure Playground have secured a grant and formed a partnership with South Yorkshire Fire Service.

The events kick off on Saturday 27th September when the playground hosts a fire safety day, with visits from a working fire engine and staff from the South Yorkshire Fire Service. Members of the staff team have been perfecting their fire lighting skills in preparation for the new programme of fire based events.

Every Friday there will be a campfire and activities about fire safety at the adventure playground – including how to light a fire safely, how to manage a fire, how to prevent fires, how to put out a fire, escape route planning for your home, fire safety at home, fire safety on Bonfire Night and the importance of having smoke alarms in your home.

The partnership with South Yorkshire Fire Service includes signing up for free smoke alarms to be installed in your home and advice from the firefighters.
