Local resident and promoter Kevin from Rollout Promotion, is planning an event in Black History month after an event to celebrate the birthday of Haile Selassie at Spital Hill Plaza was delayed.

- [•] Gypsy site plans dropped
The Council have dropped proposals for a Gypsy and Traveller site on Abbeyfield Road and Holtwood Road, following cuts in funding and changes in government policy.

The Council have announced massive cuts to their Adult and Community Learning (ACL) team, which will have a major impact on Burngreave.

South Yorkshire Passenger Transport is consulting on the introduction of a new fares system and changes to the bus network

Local residents have raised concerns about a recent planning application to expand Sheaf Training Centre.

The Council's new planning document, The Sheffield Development Framework, or SDF, was unveiled at a recent Burngreave Community Action Forum meeting in June, ahead of 6 weeks of public consultation.

The Maat probe group have continued their campaign for better mental health services, taking their message to Nottingham where they spoke to other service users.

SPACES, a Community Recovery Service (formerly Adult Mental Health Day Services), is a newly commissioned service which has an ongoing commitment to support people to re-engage with their local communities and to access the resources and opportunities that most of us take for granted.

Sheffield Homes tenants at Firshill Glade have been suffering with mould in their flats for over 12 months, despite repeatedly reporting problems.

- [•] Carwood clean up
Carwood Estate, tucked away on the edge of Burngreave, became a hive of activity on June 16th when the Hanging Basket Day and Clean Up was held. This has become an annual event organised by Carwood TARA. This year it was bigger and better than ever, with 12 different agencies involved.

Dave Hall, Byron Wood’s Learning Mentor will be doing the ‘Iron Man’ competition this summer in Zurich – a marathon of swimming, cycling and running.

In June and July all four Burngreave-based study support groups gained the “Quality in Study Support” (QiSS) award in recognition of the fantastic work that they do with young people in the area.

- [•] Scouting tradition at Holtwood
Sheffield 205th Scout Group were first affiliated into the scout movement on 1st April 1943 during the dark days of World War II. Their Headquarters has been on Holtwood Road, off Abbeyfield Road, since 1959 and was officially opened by the District Commissioner in the summer of 1962.

Howard Knight, Burngreave resident and former City Councillor, has recently been in Somaliland as part of an international observation team of election monitors for the presidential election held on 26th June.
