Local resident Naheem Khaliq is leading the way with Sheffield’s first dessert bar which sells all sorts of sweet snacks, ice creams and milkshakes.

Located on Owler Lane, Fir Vale, Yummies Dessert Bar is only seven months old, “It was a big risk as the business opened during winter.” It was certainly something new for Sheffield. His ambition to open the dessert bar stems from a mobile unit where similar products were sold.

“The mobile unit was where I started off. Here I had a variety of desserts available.” Naheem took his ideas to the drawing board which led to the launch of Yummies. “The layout and design of the entire shop was done with my skills and experience in art and graphic design.”

Naheem studied graphic design and media production but found his way into his own business by managing two large businesses. “I’ve always been into business. Yummies was a step further for my ambitions.” The way I see it, young people are yet again putting Burngreave on the map for yummy reasons!

It seems like Sheffield is behind in the fast changing cultures else where. “I would say that I would get a better response elsewhere. Manchester has places that open 24 hours.” Sheffield may be behind but Yummies is taking Burngreave to the forefront.

Come down to Yummies on Owler Lane past Jet petrol station. Open 1pm till late. Deserts include: Yummies cornflake tart; custard jam roly-poly; custard apple pie, custard cakes, milkshakes; all flavours of ice cream and Asian desserts.

Mobile deserts is launched

On my travels as a Young Advisor I noticed that desserts and milkshakes were available everywhere. So I thought we should make a mobile version of Yummies. Naheem gave me his full support and trained me up. We got our hands on a mobile unit and painted it in black We fitted the inside of the unit with everything required for making custom ice creams, hot drinks and hot food. Look out for us at events all over Sheffield!
