Pasta party

Story by Vanessa Toone

On Friday 6th May I was lucky enough to attend the second pasta party, hosted by members of New Covenant Church at St Peter’s church with Sheffield Light food bank.

The church are wanting to meet people in the are who don’t normally come to church. They hope to identify and meet the needs of local people by providing family fun, friendships and food all for free.

Several hard working ladies in the kitchen created lovely food. There were other adults as well as the helpers and 30 children from a variety of backgrounds.

The fun started with some drawing and crafts followed by music with some dance offs and competitions, which the children from the Roma Slovakian community really enjoyed. Later there were party games such as musical chairs.

It was a very relaxed atmosphere, which I look forward to the next one and hope to meet some of you there. Pasta parties at St Peter’s are continuing at 6-8pm on the first Friday of the month.
