The women-only ‘Feeling Good’ Project has come to the end of its third and final year of funding from the People’s Health Trust. The project provides a meeting place and activities for local women. In order to continue this important work, the project is looking for more funding.

At Feeling Good we do gardening, knitting, crochet, Zumba, arts and crafts, sewing and badminton on Wednesday, cooking once a month, and have access to play-work, food hygiene and first aid courses.

Nasra says: “I build my confidence and learn lots of skills. It challenges us to relax and feel better in our life.”

“We come to Feeling Good to meet people, get information about activities and gain confidence.”

Many women have appreciated the opportunity to participate in new activities and a range of training sessions including health and safety and Keep Fit.

“Since getting involved in the project I feel much happier and want to try the new things happening each week. The project has made me more active and motivated.”

“Ladies learn the skills here to start their own groups, which is excellent.”

Members feel the project helps to tackle problems such as racism, isolation and lack of activities for kids, and also helps people to socialise with others.

Shazia Khan said: “Since I’ve been to the Feeling Good project I’m much happier and more self-confident, wanting to try the new things taking place each week.”

“There’s always something to look forward to.”

“I find attending this group beneficial to us all, enabling us to share experiences and socialise with women from all ethnic backgrounds, cultures and traditions.”

“The cook and eat sessions have been a fantastic opportunity for all of us to share many world-wide cultural dishes and improve our cooking skills at home.”

“The project speaks for itself making me more active and motivated, believing assertiveness makes my future achievements possible.”

“I hope we will be able to get more funding for this project.”
