Man City Academy Day

Story: Imran Ali

On Friday 25th February 2011, in half term, we took over 25 kids to Manchester City’s football academy to have coaching sessions, personally by the club's coaches.

The young people – representing Firvale School, Byron Wood, Firshill and St Catherine’s – went through a coaching session in the morning and had a mini tournament in the afternoon. The club took details of one of them – which is a sign of them being interested in the future.

Overall the day gave the young people an opportunity to understand what football clubs look for – and they enjoyed it. Hopefully opportunity like this will raise their aspirations and maybe we'll see a future Rooney from Burngreave.
