Race for Life

Staff of Ellesmere Children’s Centre raised £570 for Breast Cancer Research by completing the 5km ‘Race for Life’ on Sunday 9th May.

Over 5,000 women joined together in an aerobics pre-race warm up at Don Valley Stadium and completed the 5km at various speeds, according to their individual abilities. Many displayed the names of loved ones who had lost their lives to cancer and some were celebrating their survival of this devastating illness.

Burngreave Sports Project have run training sessions for women building up to the ‘Race for Life’ event for the last two years, and will be doing so again next year. The Sports Project can also subsidise entry. If you would like to be added to the mailing list contact Katy on 0790 993 6381.
