Burngreave Green Environment Programme

Story: BGEP (Burngreave Green Environment Programme)

As promised in the July edition of the Burngreave Messenger we are sharing our plans for the priority sites, published below and we would very much like to hear your views.

The three priority sites this year are Osgathorpe Park, Catherine Street Park (sometimes known as Somerset Road Open Space) and Abbeyfield Park.

The main ideas for each site can be seen in the plans on this page but there are also lots of small-scale improvements that we would like to make to the parks.

The full scale plans have been available to see at the Abbeyfield Festival and we will be at the Osgathorpe Festival on 25 July. BGEP (Burngreave Green Environment Programme)) staff members will be on hand to hear your thoughts on our plans for the priority sites and other green spaces in Burngreave. If you missed these events and would like a better look at the plans or you want to tell us what you think please contact us on 278 9651.

Abbeyfield Park

BGEP has been working with the Friends of Abbeyfield Park (FOAP) to draw up a masterplan for the Park including improving the sports facilities, improving the community facilities, making the Park safer and cleaner and keeping the park’s historical layout.

Catherine Street Open Spaces

BGEP would especially like to hear your comments on this site as there is no ‘friends of’ group for the Open Space. We would like to put in a new playground and improve the sporting facilities as well as taking out lots of trees to open up the park and improve the views into and from the park.

Osgathorpe Park

BGEP has also been working with the Friends of Osgathorpe Park (FOOP) to draw up a masterplan for their Park including putting in additional play equipment for younger children, making the playground dog-free and providing a sports facility.
