Makaton Taster Session

Whiteways School are going to run another Makaton Taster for people who want to learn the basics of sign language! It's our second round and, because the first one went really well, we are giving those who could not attend the taster last time the chance to have a go.

Background Information:

Makaton is a language programme using signs and symbols to help people with learning difficulties to communicate effectively. The Makaton Language Programme uses a structured approach involving a combination of speech, signs and graphic symbols. The taster session will begin with a practical activity involving non-verbal communication. You will then be given information about what Makaton signing is and how the system works. You will learn 30-40 common signs by the end of this session and use role play activities to practice conversational use.

Location:

The session will be held at Whiteways Primary School, Whiteways Road, Sheffield S4 8EX.

Date & Time:

Thursday 23rd May from 12 to 3pm

Price:

£20 per person for the session. Payment can be made by cash or cheque payable to: SIL Solution Ltd

What to do next:

To book your place or for more information please contact Mrs Usha Blackham on 242 3169 at Whiteways Primary School.
