Story: Lisa Swift

After 4 years of asking, Earl Marshal resident Sylvia Reaney has finally succeeded in getting her fence fixed by the Council. Sylvia's house backs onto Osgathorpe Park and the damaged fence had become a security problem for her and her neighbours.

“I've been burgled several times, and so have others on the street. The fence had been damaged for years and not repaired and it was a real security risk for everyone.”

Despite calling in the support of local Councillors, the Parks department were still slow to move. So Sylvia went straight to the top and wrote to the Director of Parks and Countryside, who came to visit.

“I really appreciated her coming to visit me. After that, they kept me informed about what was happening and the fence was fixed. It's also thanks to the Councillors who I've written to over the years.”
