There was football, fun, food and music at the Caribbean Sports Club Fun Day on Sunday 15th August. The club has strong links with Burngreave, with many team players from the area.

The Fun Day aimed to raise awareness of the Sports Club, encourage more of the community to visit, motivate young and old to try some form of exercise and to raise money for the Sports Club.

There were 11-a-side football matches played by the Caribbean Football Team, a veterans’ game and an exclusive England vs Jamaica finale. Following the footsteps of the World Cup England squad, Sheffield's England Team continued the defeated theme! Meanwhile, the children and young people were entertained by street dance workshops, sprint races, hula-hooping, sack racing, bouncy castle and face painting which they thoroughly enjoyed. The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable, helped by a sound system, fantastic food, including jerk chicken cooked the traditional Caribbean way.

With over 500 visitors to the event, many of whom had never visited the sports ground before, everyone had a great time. Planning for next year's Fun Day will begin early 2011.
