Job: Youth Worker

Ellesmere Youth Project requires a part-time Youth Worker

12 hours per week at £7.50 per hour.

Closing date: 14th November 2008

Interviews: week commencing: 1st December

EYP is a detached youth work project in the Ellesmere and Carwood area of Burngreave, Sheffield.

Our aim is to improve life opportunities for young people, aged 10-18, in the Ellesmere area of Burngreave.

Our ethos is to reach out to local young people by providing activities and groups in which to foster relationships, build a sense of community and encourage the values of acceptance, respect, co-operation, equality and love.

Our focus is on building long-term, quality relationships with young people.

We need someone to join our youth work team to assist us:

  • Establish contact with, listen to, befriend and advocate on behalf of young people and

  • Organise programmes and activities that encourage participation, promote confidence, respect and responsibility.

One session a week will be spent at the office base.

You will:

  • Have experience of working with young people 10-18.

  • Be flexible: the post includes daytime and evening work, school holidays and occasional weekend work.
