In July a sunny Petre Street hosted the first successful community organised world cup football event. Those who took part played matches throughout the day leading to the main event of England vs Jamaica.

Home-grown West Indian descendents played a team of newly-arrived Jamaicans. This event drew a large turnout of several hundred community people, who all enjoyed what was a sunny, musical, fun day of sports.
