Burngreave bus route changes

A Summary of Burngreave bus route changes from 1st November 2015

Routes unaltered:

5, 29, 88,265

Routes withdrawn without replacement:

M20

Routes withdrawn but largely covered by other and new routes within our area: 2, 47, 48, P1, P2, 36, 37, 87

Routes that have changed but keep some old numbers:

97/98 now run along the old 20/20a routes from Hillsborough via Scott Road, Lyons St, Ellesmere Road but then to Totley/Totley Brook via High Street.

The 20 now comes from Ecclesfield via Yew Lane and Southey Green, Norwood Road then down Barnsley Road and Burngreave Road (it will no longer via Scott Road) to the city centre (Arundel Gate) and then on to Hemsworth.

The 83 will longer goes to Millhouses but to Bents Green. It will go via Rock Street and Greystones. The 83a will also go via Rock Street. There will be no direct bus service from Firshill Estate down Burngreave Road and Spital Hill.

35 will now go from Arundel Gate via Spital, Grimesthorpe, Meadowhall and Firth Park as before but will also take in Fox Hill on its way to Hillsborough.

75 Shiregreen (anticlockwise), Firth Park, Page Hall, Fir Vale, Barnsley Road, Burngreave Road, Spital Hill, Sheffield High Street, Woodseats, Jordanthorpe/ Batemoor

76 Shiregreen (clockwise), Firth Park, Page Hall, Fir Vale, Barnsley Road, Burngreave Road, Spital Hill, Sheffield High Street, Woodseats, Greenhill, Low Edges.

New routes:

1 runs from High Green via Ecclesfield Common taking the Barnsley and Burngreave Road route to Sheffield High Street and then to Hemsworth, Jordanthorpe/Batemoor.

1a runs from High Green via Ecclesfield Village taking the Barnsley and Burngreave Road route to the city centre and then to Hemsworth and Herdings.

3 runs from Meadowhall via Wincobank, Firth Park and the via Rock Street to Sheffield High Street to Nether Edge.

32, 32a follow the old 2 route up Cookswood Road but after going all round Shirecliffe, Parson Cross and Longley to go through the grounds of the Northern General Hospital to Firth Park.

Note: Only 29, 32, 32a, 35 and 265 now go from Burngreave to the Sheffield Interchange.

All our buses from town (except 29 and 265) will go from Arundel Gate.

Lower price multi-operator tickets for bus users will also be launched to complement the new network, making it easier for passengers to get on the first bus that comes along.

New CityBus Day (£4), 7 Day (£14) and 28 Day (£49) tickets for travel on any bus in Sheffield, and reduced CityWide Day (£4.30), 7 Day (£15), 28 Day (£53) and Annual (£560) tickets for travel on any bus or tram in Sheffield, offer a discount of up to 23% against the nearest existing ticket. The price of these tickets will be frozen until at least April 2017.
