1-1 Practical Assistant – 16 hour

Ref: PA1115 £7.18 per hour

Are you committed to empowering older people and helping them to take control of their lives? Can you work flexibly between the hours of 10am and 4.30 Monday to Friday? Do you have experience of providing practical support to customers in the community? The successful applicant will enjoy delivering excellent customer service, providing tailored support to customers in their own homes to meet individual needs and aspirations. It is essential that the successful candidate holds a full UK driving licence and has the use of a motor vehicle during employment. We are looking for dedicated volunteers aged 50+ who can give a few hours a week to support older people who are experiencing social isolation.

As an Age Better Champion you will have experienced social isolation yourself and understand the impact that this can have on physical and mental health/wellbeing. This is a flexible role that gives you the opportunity to help people in a way that you are passionate about, from setting up support networks and activities, to befriending people to support them to try something new.

As a Peer Mentor you will support older people to prepare for life events that could lead to them becoming socially isolated, such as retirement or the loss of a loved one. This is a flexible role that gives you the opportunity to help people in a way that you are passionate about, from setting up support networks and activities, to befriending people to support them to try something new.
