Tour de France celebrations in Burngreave

Burngreave residents and projects along the Tour de France route will be celebrating the arrival of the Tour over the weekend of the 5th and 6th July.

Abbeyfield Park Big Weekender

There are two days of activities in Abbeyfield Park, include the annual Multicultural festival on Saturday 1pm-7pm. There will be a big screen there on Sunday to enjoy the race 10am – 6pm.

Pitsmoor Adventure Playground celebrates

Pitsmoor Adventure Playground have been preparing for weeks for the Tour with creative workshops for children. There is a spectacular new mural and bunting hanging from all parts of the playground. They will be celebrating on Saturday 5th July 12-4pm, with activities for children and families.

Burngreave Cemetery well dressing

Friends of Burngreave Chapel and Cememtery will be creating their annual well dressing on Friday 4th and Saturday 5th July.

SAGE Greenfingers opens its doors for the Tour

The Tour de France route passes directly in front of SAGE’s office at 30 Minna Road. They will be opening their doors 11am to 5pm on Sunday to join in with the festivities and raise some funds for their horticultural therapy service. Along with colleagues from Pitsmoor Surgery they will be providing tea and cake, cold drinks and access to the toilet.

Parkwood Springs for refeshments and bikes

The Tour route goes down Shirecliffe Road past the main entrance of Parkwood Springs and the Spirit of Parkwood car park. Friends of Parkwood Springs will be providing refreshments during the event on Sunday and there will be public toilets available on the car park.

Russells Bicycle Shed will have bikes to try out, for the level part of the site and on the mountain bike trail from 10am to 5pm on the Sunday. You'll be asked for a donation of £5 towards the maintenance of the bike trail, and you'll need some ID.

The University of Sheffield is also having a special display on the top football fields near the mobile phone mast, from the Thursday before (July 3rd) to the Tour de France day itself.
