Burngreave Well Dressing and Tour de France

The creation of this year’s ‘Tour de France’ themed well dressing will start on Wednesday in the cemetery chapel, with the addition of clay to the base boards. Thursday sees the design being incised on the clay and the petal outline put in place. On Friday and Saturday most of the petalling happens.

Everyone is welcome to help put the petals on, on Friday 4th or Saturday 5th after 2.00pm,. Please don’t wear your best clothes – it can be messy!

If you have a few brightly coloured flowers, with small petals to donate please bring them along. (contact Saleema for more details on 07950 299 073)

The finished well dressing will be put in place on the evening of Saturday 5th at the well near to the Melrose Road entrance, where it will stay for up to two weeks..

Tour de France …

…activities on Sunday 6th have been cancelled. Most of our volunteers are unable to get to the cemetery on the day either because of illness or the road closures so sadly we will not be holding the picnic or bike workshop activities.

The bunting and other decorations created by the Friends of the cemetery and the kids from the adventure playground will be placed on the race route after the party at the adventure playground on Saturday afternoon.
