Story: Rebecca Norton

It was that time of year again, the Burngreave Bowls Tournament. Doesn’t time fly?!

On 27th August we had a fantastic turnout of 9 teams plus spectators at Abbeyfield Park, comprising a mix of community residents, staff from local organisations and Street Wardens. There was an air of competitiveness about some of the teams right from the start. After the first games everybody got into the swing of it with a few teams emerging as strong contenders. At the end of all the matches it was neck and neck between local residents Globe Trotters and Street Wardens so it was left to a play off to decide the winners. It was a close call but in the end the Globe Trotters pulled through to finish in first place.

I would like to thank everyone who came along, especially those who helped with the BBQ and refreshments. It was a really enjoyable afternoon and I look forward to seeing you all again next year.
