Burngreave seminars at New Roots Shop

A selection of seminars and discussions will be taking place throughout February and March 2008 at the New Roots Shop, Burngreave Ashram, 86 Spital Hill.

These seminars will take place on Thursday evenings and will cover a variety of topics. All seminars will start at 7:30pm and end at 9:00pm, and they will all take place at the New Roots Shop. The programme forms part of the Spring 2008: Action in the Inner Cities programme.

On Thursday 14th February, the discussion will be entitled, “Campaigning with Asylum Seekers.” The speakers at this event will be Mike McColgan and Stuart Crosthwaite, with Andy Shallice chairing the seminar.

On Thursday 21st February, the seminar will centre around, “The Homeless in Burngreave.” The speakers will be Russ Carmichael and a Rehousing Officer, and the discussion will be chaired by Gerry Corneau.

On Thursday 28th February, the discussion will move to the topic of, “A Chilean in Burngreave,” with Ana Maria Gonzales telling her story to the group. Jean Wildgoose will be chairing this discussion.

On Thursday 6th March, the seminar will focus on, “The Early Civil Rights Movement & Vernon Johns.” The speaker at this discussion will be Ahmed Gurnah and the event will be chaired by Grace Vincent.

On Thursday 13th March, the event will discuss, “Tesco: What Now?” The speaker will be Carl Glossop and the event will be chaired by John Clark.
