The return of the bowlers

After two years of dereliction, the Messenger is delighted to report, that, during the festival, the newlyrefurbished bowling green was officially opened by Abbeyfield Bowler Winnie Bentley and Lord Mayor Roger Davison.

Winnie and the Friends of Abbeyfield Park have battled for years to get the green resurfaced. Stanley Tew from the men’s team said they were looking forward to playing in the park next season. The refurbishment was paid for by the Burngreave Green Environment Programme. The Messenger wishes the bowling teams good luck on their new green. If you would like to join
