On Monday, 4th July, St Catherine’s Primary School started a week of Making Poverty History. We are trying to put pressure on the G8 leaders to make decisions that will change lives.
The human chain
St Catherine’s children and adults all held hands on 4th July and wore white clothes to make a big white chain.
Awareness
The younger children at St Catherine’s have held an art exhibition with work based on Africa. Here are some of the things that people thought about it: Reuben Knowles in year 5, ten years old said, “Lots of detail, I like the sunset best”, Edgar Lowman in year 3 said, “Very good especially the pots”, Katrina Love in year 4 said “Great, I really enjoyed it”. All the children and adults enjoyed the art show.
The reason why we are doing Make Poverty History week is to raise awareness in all children and adults, so that everyone can have an equal share of the world’s resources.
