Jobs: Northern Refugee Centre Employment and Education Advisors

  • 2×0.6 Full Time Equivalent Advisors,

  • salary: £22, 958 pro-rata

Northern Refugee Centre Employment and Education Service is recruiting 2×0.6FTE posts to increase the capacity of our service to support refugees and asylum seekers to access employment, education and training, volunteering and work placement opportunities.

This will include from January 2013, delivery of an exciting partnership project with Voluntary Action Sheffield, funded by the National Lottery through the Big Lottery Fund and by Sheffield City Council.

We are looking for people who have the experience, skills and abilities to deliver all of the following areas of work:

  1. Client Casework: to manage a caseload of individual clients, in line with contractual requirements for the Work Programme and other funding streams

  2. Group Work: to deliver group sessions to improve clients’ employability

  3. Information Gathering and Sharing: to keep informed of local job vacancies and other relevant provision and opportunities

  4. Placements: to support clients to access a range of volunteering and work experience opportunities

  5. In-work support: to work with employers and clients to provide in-work support

  6. Partnership Work: to work with employers, training providers and other agencies to enhance the support and opportunities available for clients

You must meet all the essential criteria listed in the person specification, including:

  • at least two years experience in IAG (information, advice and guidance) for learning and work and/or Employment and Skills;

  • experience of working with people from BME/ESOL backgrounds;

  • experience of managing a caseload of clients; and

  • experience of working with a range of individuals, organisations or employers.
