The Crescent Craft Group Christmas Fayre, hit by the snow, began disappointingly, but parents collecting children piled into the community room and saved the day.

Marjorie, who organised the event, was delighted with the amount raised, £603. “We’ll share it between the craft group and the social group which arranges trips for members.”

The craft group this month received Christmas presents in the form of donations from the Freshgate Trust, Birdall’s, the Student’s Rag committee and the Freemasons. Sheffield City Council also gave a small grant to fund a pottery course and materials and a canal trip. The group would like to thank all the above for their support.

The craft group meets on Thursdays 10am–1.30pm at the Crescent Community Centre, St Catherine’s School, Firshill Crescent and welcomes new members over 50. Refreshments are available all day and a very reasonably priced soup and sarni lunch available.
