BCR: Burngreave Community Radio
Farhan Ahmed

Story: Farhan Ahmed

This is DJ Samosa hitting the keyboard to tell all you lovely readers out there that the one and only BCR radio is on the air. From June this year we heard a full programme bring to the audience a sensation of sound.

Tune in and listen to a whole variety from the children’s breakfast show on Sunday to the inspirational show on Fridays. Listen to soul, raga, bassline, dancehall and locally produced music. Matloub, presenter and committee member, says:

“Currently BCR has over 200 members with over 15 BCR Committee members and over 80 presenters with 10-20 on standby. We have over 20 core groups of volunteers who undertake varying tasks from duty studio manager, sales, admin, training, reception, technical and hospitality duties.”

A range of broadcasters give you key priority issues debated live. BCR truly gives a taste of the many languages spoken in our community.

Young people from schools & youth clubs including Launch Pad special needs group came into the studio to observe and present live on air! These are just some of the many highlights.

With the signal being transmitted all over Sheffield and Rotherham, people can now tune into the newest radio station allowing Burngreave talent to shine.
