Mural Celebration

Story by Rob Smith

On Tuesday 15th February Osgathorpe Park unveiled its multicultural mural displayed on the brickwork of Firvale Youth Centre – Osgathorpe Park Pavilion.

“We could not have wished a better day for this activity,” said Mat Eggerton organiser of Osgathorpe Park’s mural drawing initiative. “This was made possible with the help of the friends of Osgathorpe Park Group and funded through Creative Burngreave. Months of consultation involving local children has been taking place, through local events and workshops, in order to gather ideas for this,” added Mat.

Artist Patrick Amber, the Rangers service, local children and Fir Vale Youth Project, put final touches to the mural painting.

The event was honoured by the attendance of Leon Taylor, Athens 2004 Olympic silver medallist in synchronised diving, while Burngreave Sports Project were on hand with sporting activities.
