Burngreave Cup

Story by David Ainscough

The football season is back with us and not least in Burngreave. Nine teams battled it out over two weekends at the prestigious Sheffield United Hallam FM Acadamy.

The African Dream Team, Boyz In the Reggae, Kurdish Town United, Sheffield Browlers, Red United, Spectrum Stars, Samba Milan, Nacro All Stars, and the Sickness Crew all took part in the Burngreave Cup 2004.

Last year’s victors the African Dream Team were this year put into the shade by the stylish Samba Milan, who beat them in the final 1-0. Sheffield Browlers and Nacro Allstars also rating highly in the leagues.

All the matches were played with enthusiasm and aggression, match officials kept games under control and the physio ensured safety throughout the tournament.

Hopefully we will be able to realise a Burngreave team in the near future consisting of players from these exiting young teams.
