SOAR is an award winning regeneration charity in North Sheffield which provides a number of services for the community including health, buildings management, training and support into employment.

SOAR has an exciting vacancy in our Health Team for:

Health Trainer

Part time (30 hours) flexible hours

Salary: £16,440 – 17,161 pro rata

8% pension contribution

25 days annual leave entitlement pro-rata & Bank holidays

Permanent subject to funding

Health Trainers will contribute to tackling inequalities in health through promoting and supporting people to develop healthier behaviours and lifestyles in the context of their own local communities, namely within:

Southey Community Wellbeing Programme (CWP) (Forms part of new Southey Owlerton – People Keeping Well Community Partnership.)

Parson Cross, Southey, Shirecliffe and Longley areas.

It focuses on engaging with individuals in communities and offering them practical support to change their behaviour to achieve their own choices and goals.

PURPOSE OF JOB This post will contribute to tackling inequalities in health through promoting and supporting people to develop healthier behaviours and lifestyles in the context of their own local communities, namely within:

Southey Community Wellbeing Programme (CWP)1 Parson Cross, Southey, Shirecliffe and Longley areas.

It focuses on engaging with individuals in communities and offering them practical support to change their behaviour to achieve their own choices and goals.

Health Trainers will be a practical resource to help connect people into services at a local level. The work will focus on communities who are marginalised and who experience the greatest inequalities in health.

Health Trainers are not expected to have specialist knowledge in any one area of health / illness. However workers will have a focus on: chronic pain, diabetes, heart health and healthy eating.

Health Trainers will be provided with a package of accredited (if not already qualified) and non-accredited training.

SOAR SOCIAL PRESCRIBING SERVICE The post will be responsible for engaging and promoting the Health Trainer Service within:

Buchanan Road Surgery, Elm Lane Surgery, Norwood Medical Centre, The Health Care Surgery, Southey Green Medical Centre and Barnsley Road Surgery. Note. Includes branch surgeries.
