Introduction to Community Development and Health Course

Develop the skills and confidence to make a positive difference in your community.

Taster session to meet Tutor Tahira Fiaz Monday 20th January 09:30am – 12:30pm

The full course is for 8 weeks and will start on Thursday 23rd January, then every Monday and Thursday at 9.30am – 2.30pm until Thursday 20th March at Vestry Hall, Burngreave Road, Sheffield S3 9DD.

Free childcare is provided for participants.

What is Community Development and Health?

  • It’s about local people gaining skills and knowledge about issues affecting both, their own and the community’s health and wellbeing.

  • It helps build confidence to get involved in your communities activities.

How will it benefit me?

  • Open College Network accreditation at level 1 or 2

  • Become active in new and existing groups

  • Increased self-confidence and well being

  • Getting involved in further study with a health focus

  • opportunity to work towards level 3 and progress as a trainer

  • Practical learning that will also be fun.

How is the course delivered?

  • The course is for 8 weeks, supported by experienced, friendly and approachable tutors.

  • Participants can be creative using painting, collage and photo’s to explore issues

  • Participants will be guided to reflect and analyse issues in group discussions and journals

  • Participants will be doing individual work as well as group activities during the sessions.
