Walk on the Heritage Trail

A guided walk along the heritage of the River Don and Canal will start from the Wicker at 2pm on Saturday 9th October 2010.

The “Blue Loop” – the walk around the Five Weirs walk on the River Don and the canal towpath – is being promoted with a waterways historian leading a heritage trail .

The organisers say:

“Sheffield is remarkably one of the most influential cities in regards to industry, with machinery and mills at the heart of its culture. Revisit the sounds of Sheffield’s Industry, join a local waterways historian for a heritage trail around the River Don and Tinsley Canal, telling you stories of the areas that made Sheffield proud of its industrial past.”

The event is free. Meet at the Wicker Arches at 2pm
