Burngreave Mentoring Project

Would you like to become a Community Mentor?

Supporting young people in Burngreave to fulfil their potential and make a positive contribution

What is Mentoring?

A volunteer over the age of 18 who has been trained to work individually with young people, who would benefit from a positive role model to address difficulties they may be facing at home, in school or in their community.

Why Mentoring?

There are times when young people face issues that are difficult for a family member or friend to address. It often helps for a 3rd person to assist who can offer independent support and expertise.

Who Mentors?

Volunteers over the age of 18 yrs who have undergone a recruitment and training process to enable them to work safely with young people.

Who Mentees?

Young people aged 10 – 19 yrs old who live in the Burngreave area and are experiencing difficulties which prevent them from fulfilling their potential and engaging positively in their community. Referrals could be from families, schools, Youth & community groups and other services working in the area.

When will the Mentoring take place?

The Training usually last for 2 days and is accredited by the Open College Network and successful completion of the full training programme will enable Mentors to gain an OCN qualification and be matched with a young person.
