BME Community Development Worker

Sheffield has a vibrant and strong community sector. The City Council is proud of its working practices with the sector and is recruiting to a new Community Regeneration Development Team who can continue our support to the sector and ensure that the sector continues to play an active role in the city’s civil renewal.

  • SUG 5/6 £20,895 – £24,708 (pro-rata)

  • 22 hrs

  • Temporary – funded up to November 2008

The need for a community development worker to work specifically with the Bangladeshi community in Sheffield has been identified through ongoing and close working with various Bangladeshi organisations in Darnall. The post holder will work closely with the Senior BME community development worker to build the capacity of the local BME community in Darnall and Sharrow and will have a key role in supporting the development of a social inclusion strategy for the area. Experience of innovative community development and an ability to build and maintain relationships will be required.
