LEA agreement

Story by the New Deal executive team

Children from Burngreave under achieve at school compared to other parts of Sheffield. Through the Advancing Together Agreement, BNDfC and the Sheffield Education Authority have agreed some key projects to help raise achievement levels.

This will see additional resources being put in to assist learning in schools and to enable parents to become more involved in supporting their children and help raise standards.

Most of these nine projects will come to fruition next term:

  • Bilingual teaching assistants

  • Reducing exclusions

  • Community language learning in schools

  • Celebration of success

  • Firvale Business Enterprise Centre

  • Community education coordinators

  • Half term holiday clubs

  • Breakfast and after school club

  • Firs Hill community facilities

If you’ve got children at school make sure you get involved – look out for developments in the schools or contact Jon Cowley, BNDfC Education Theme Manager, on 292 2908.
