Adult learning

Story by the New Deal executive team

The Burngreave Community Language Campaign (BCLC) has just appointed a second round of 18 Community Learning Assistants.

BCLC works with education, employment and training organisations in the area to raise the level of adult qualifications held by people in Burngreave and increase their ability to find and remain in employment. This involves a unique twin track approach:

  • BCLC employs 18 local people every two years from Burngreave to be learning assistants and improve their skills, achieve level 2/3 qualifications and prepare them for higher education or employment.

  • Through outreach workers and learning assistants, the campaign signposts, recruits and supports learners at entry level 2 until they qualify and subsequently find employment.

If you want to get involved in adult education and training please contact the Burngreave Community Learning Campaign at Forum House, 35 Spital Hill or phone 279 4960.

For further information on any BNDfC education project please contact Jon Cowley on 292 2908.
