Bring out your rubbish

Sory by Kieron Williams – Area Co-ordinator for the Burngreave Area Panel

Once again the Burngreave Area Panel and Street Force are funding a series of Bring Out Your Rubbish Days covering the whole of our area over the next six months.

We want to help keep Burngreave clean by making sure everyone can dispose of their rubbish properly. These days are your chance to get rid of large unwanted items. Look out for the leaflet through your letterbox letting you know how it all works.

We have also arranged for Sheffield Community Recycling Action Program (SCRAP) to offer a recycling service as part of your Bring Out Your Rubbish Day.

SCRAP will come round to pick up any reusable items such as old furniture or white goods ahead of the bin lorry on the day. Look in the leaflet for information about your day.

Street Force will also be doing extra street cleaning as part of each day and the Area Panel will be supporting local people to help clean up their area. This is your chance to make a real difference to the quality of your neighbourhood. We will provide bin bags, gloves, litter pickers, help and advice to anyone who wants to arrange some clean up work.

How can you help?

  • Do make the most of your Bring Out Your Rubbish Day, look out for the leaflet through your letter box telling you what to do.

  • Do let SCRAP know in advance if you have any reusable or recyclable goods.

  • Do get together with others to cleanup a local eyesore.

  • Do spend 5 minutes cleaning the front of your home – imagine the difference if everyone did this.

  • Do report fly tipping, graffiti and abandoned cars by calling 273 4567.

  • Don’t put out any of the following items: refrigerators, freezers, asbestos (eg old guttering), gas bottles, car tyres, car batteries, stones and bricks. We cannot take these items, if they are placed out they will be returned.
