Beighton railway feasibility study

Dear Messenger Readers

A small group of us from Catcliffe and Treeton are looking at doing a feasibility into re-opening the Beighton railway line to passenger trains. There is a freight-only route at present running south from Masbrough in Rotherham to Chesterfield, sometimes known as the ‘Old Road’.

A steering group is needed with representatives from communities along the line: Beighton and Sothall, Woodhouse, Killamarsh, Eckington and Renishaw, Staveley, Masbrough and Burngreave as well as us from Treeton and Catcliffe.

If anyone from Burngreave or the Wicker area might be interested in joining our steering group, please email stephenruffle@treetonpartnership.org.uk or phone me on 288 9308.
