Governors, staff, and students are delighted. This has been a ‘great year’ for Fir Vale Academy following a very good Ofsted Report in June – a real success story in a very challenging context. After a two day visit by the independent school inspectors (Ofsted), Fir Vale School was declared Outstanding in Student Safety and Good in all categories – Leadership and Management, Behaviour of pupils, Quality of Teaching and Achievement of Pupils. The lead Ofsted inspector reported the school is “An oasis of calm, tolerance and harmony”.
Following on from this, Fir Vale went up a good 6.5% in the number of pupils achieving 5A*-C grades (including English & Maths) on last year’s results. They are now standing at 46% 5A*C, which is 6% above the government floor target and not all of our results are in yet. The 3 levels’ progress in English this year is outstanding at 77%.
In the surrounding area Parkwood E-ACT Academy excelled in Maths and Science where pupils achieved 60% and 80% A*-C grades.
Firth Park Academy have celebrated an overall 9% improvement in results from last year and at Longley Park final year students achieved an amazing 98% A level pass rate.
