7th May 2016. A busy day at Burngreave Cemetery

Launch of exhibition about flora and fauna of the cemetery

At 12 noon -In the Chapel, His Worship the Lord Mayor, our own Councillor Talib Hussain, will launch an exhibition by Christine Steers about the flora and fauna in the grounds of the cemetery.

Environmental guided walk

Followed at 1.30 pm by an Environmental guided walk around the grounds led by Christine Steers, including some of the interesting graves.

Bat walk

At 8.30 pm there will be a talk about bats followed by a walk led by Robert Croxton from Sorby Natural History Society. Three illuminated moth traps will be installed and Richard Harris, Sheffield City Council Ecology Officer will help with moth identification. He will also loan bug pots and bat detectors for use during the evening.

NB – If the weather forecast is for rain, the evening will be cancelled as neither bats nor moths like to fly in the rain.
