Let's talk Burngreave

Come to the Vestry Hall for a day of food, talk, dance and the chance to learn new skills for the ‘Let's Talk Burngreave’ project. There will be a Big Brother style diary room open all day for you to pop in and leave a message. The organisers want to hear your thoughts and experiences of living in the area, and to share your ideas for how to inspire neighbours to take action on isolation.

You can hear from guest speakers including the Deputy Lord Mayor and local residents and organisations. No need to book for any of these, the event will be from 10am and you will be welcome to enjoy free refreshments and to find out more about the projects which Age Better in Sheffield is running to reduce loneliness and isolation.

Sign up for media skills training, you can choose photography, film making, audio stories, writing and drawing. If you are over 50 book a place to try chairobics or get advice from Sheffield MIND on how to improve your relationships and wellbeing by changing how you sit or stand.

From 5pm there will be a sit down meal and performances that celebrate the diversity of the area.

There will be performances from a reggae band ‘Truly Apparent’, Bollywood songs from singer Maz Khan and many more.

Age Better in Sheffield is a £6 million programme funded by The Big Lottery Fund and led by the South Yorkshire Housing Association to reduce loneliness and isolation in people aged fifty and over. The projects are co-delivered by people over the aged 50+ and a range of inspiring partners across the city including Royal Voluntary Service, Sheffield MIND, Ignite Imaginations, Sheffield Cubed and SYHA.
