Sheffield City Council say –
In the last 4 years we have reduced our budget by £238 million, we now need to make a further saving of £60 million. Waste services need to save £3.4m by 2017 to help us balance our budget.
We have identified a number of different options to reduce spending in 3 areas of waste management:
black bin collections
recycling collections
introducing charges for replacement containers
Before any changes of this type are introduced there will be a dedicated consultation exercise with the local community.
