SAGE Greenfingers were particularly pleased when 19th April dawned fair for the grand opening of their new shed by Lord Mayor, Talib Hussain. Last winter an increase in numbers at our gardening groups made lunch time a tight squeeze.
Knowing that a spacious, warm space would work best for their client group, SAGE decided to go for a high quality build and raised over £20,000 to have it installed just before winter set in. With its green roof, insulated wooden walls, double glazed windows and smart recycled kitchen units it gives people options of indoor as well as outdoor activity.
Over 80 people came to the opening. SAGE women singers entertained before a fantastic buffet lunch. One of the singers gave a very moving tribute to SAGE: “There ought to be many more services like SAGE for adults struggling with depression and anxiety. The patience of the staff and the way they motivate and inspire us is wonderful. I can’t speak highly enough of this organisation!”
If you would like to visit our shed for yourselves, why not attend an outdoor theatre performance of ‘Pure – the business of chocolate’ by travelling theatre company Mikron, that is planned there for Wednesday 8th June 6 – 8pm. Contact SAGE on 0114 273 7718 for more details.
