Thanks to the great response we had from our advert in April’s issue, the Burngreave Messenger has been delivering training in Community Journalism. The open-access sessions at Abbeyfield Park House have included interviewing, writing and photography, and we now have a group of keen and skilled people of all ages to take on voluntary roles at the Messenger.
Mustafa said: “It was something new for me, but now I’m thinking I’m much better and confident than ever about the subject.”
We have also been running tailored training sessions with local organisations and schools, including: All Saints Youth Club, Cellar Space, Owler Brook Primary school, Pitsmoor Adventure Playground and Burngreave TARA’s Feeling Good project.
We have been overwhelmed by the interest we have received. We will be running a full five-week course in September-October, which will include new sessions on social media and production skills. Anyone is welcome to attend.
