Crabtree Ponds is our local nature reserve, managed by Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust. It is bounded by Barnsley Road, Crabtree Road and Crabtree Close.

Problems with fly-tipping have reduced since an incident was investigated. Perhaps the threat of a £50,000 fine is a successful deterrent. There will be a butterfly survey here in 2016, so please report any sightings to the wildlife trust. There are plans to enhance and monitor the reserve’s biodiversity, maintain access routes and historical features, ensure the whole community can enjoy the reserve.

Maintenance days are the first Monday of the month, 9.30am – noon. Crabtree Ponds Advisory meeting is 7th July, 6pm on site.
