On 2nd May the Ashram held its monthly multi-faith morning of book-sharing, meditation, vegetarian lunch and afternoon seminar on the theme of ‘Inspiration’.
In the book sharing John Vincent spoke of a psychogeography project that links Pitsmoor to Jerusalem. Sara Clayton presented David Michie’s novel, The Dalai Lama’s Cat, in which Buddhism is viewed from a rescued streetcat’s perspective, and I brought one of my favourite books: Autobiography of a Yogi by Paramahansa Yogananda.
Chris Bullock led our uplifting meditation, reading an extract about the body as the home of the soul and playing a beautiful chant.
Our May seminar was a reminiscence by former nurse Ruth Bird. The title of her talk was ‘Five Great Sheffield Doctors’.
Burngreave Ashram holds its monthly multi-faith events on the first Monday of the month at 86 Spital Hill, Sheffield S4 7LG, from 11am to 2.30pm.
Everyone is welcome to attend all or any part of the day.
Free, but donations welcome.
