On 3rd October local businesses from Page Hall met with their member of parliament, Harry Harpham. The meeting was organised so business representatives could formally present him with a petition to take to the relevant minister at Westminster to ask for funding to help regenerate the area.

The meeting heard from local business representatives that the area has gone into decline and needed government help initiating a face-lift scheme, like those completed on Spital Hill and in Darnall, to revitalise the area and increase economic activity.

Organisers have been very active assessing the area, visiting and talking to local businesses and collecting signatures. Abdul Khayum, a Sheffield community advocate who helped facilitate the meeting with Harry Harpham MP, said the Page Hall area is unique and additional resources are therefore needed to help alleviate some of the pressures.

Harry Harpham MP said that he understands and appreciates the concerns that people have raised and would be happy to take these concerns to Westminster and hand the petition to the minister for local government.

All the people present showed tremendous appreciation to Harry Harpham MP and thanked him for coming to meet with them and listen to their concerns. For more information visit ‘Guest with Nazir’ on Facebook.
