Story by Carrie Hedderwick
Rob Hindle, working for the WEA, ran a short writing course at Burngreave Library.
Everyone has a story to tell and Rob wants to see how people can do this in a supportive group by reading a bit of fiction and poetry, looking at quite ordinary daily domestic happenings, and then writing – just a paragraph or two – and sharing these (if people want to).
In the last session, I called in and spoke to some members of the group.
Sameeah, who is new to the area, said
“There is a lot of laughter in the group.”
She enjoyed hearing the variety of people’s experiences, the structure and direction to the sessions.
The WEA is a partner in the Learn Well Live Well Community Learning Project and has been commissioned to deliver a range of courses under the heading of ‘creativity and culture’.
Themes have been around food, family, people and journeys.
So – what’s your story?
Look out for the next course dates – hopefully starting late April.
