At Burngreave library two library volunteers Sam and Erica organised a production of Macbeth.
We started by warming up our muscles so we weren’t stiff. Then we practiced a sentence and zoomed in to it. We focused on one word in the sentence and we projected our voice to emphasize the word.
This is the example that Sam and Erica used “Yesterday was my birthday”. We would zoom into the word yesterday. As we spoke we added different tones to explain how we felt. I enjoyed it because it gave me confidence to perform in front of new people. It taught me that you could explain more meaning into one word by the tone of your voice.
At the end of it, we performed the production. It was a really good experience.

I loved my experience at Burngreave library because we got to recall on a Macbeth play. It was really good because we all got to come together and perform separate pieces of the play. We all did a quick warm up by following how the person walks in front of us. We built up a lot of confidence from this course because everyone was encouraged to read and act in front of an audience. Our teacher Sam thought it could never get better. At the end, we all got a certificate and a voucher to reward and congratulate us. I felt very proud about myself because I had just performed a Shakespeare play.

At the Burngreave library, children from a mixture of cultures and beliefs got together for a free Shakespearean drama adventure. This session helped develop our drama skills and our team work. We read a part of the script of Macbeth and this helped our academic skills. As well as doing fun activities, I enjoyed the play that we acted out where we changed our tone of voice and our facial expressions to engage the audience. I would recommend this to any child to have fun and for parents to help their child boost their confidence.
