Roads in Pitsmoor and Fir Vale are the focus of a new South Yorkshire Police initiative to cut road deaths. Measures include targeting drivers with breathalysers, drug driving kits and a new speed camera.
Chief Inspector Glenn Suttenwood said, “Focusing on certain roads is one part of our plan. We also talk to young people about the dangers on our roads.”
Road users can do a lot to help protect themselves and others by following some key rules;
Check the condition of the vehicle
Wear a seat belt
Drive within your ability
Don’t drink, or use drugs, and drive
Never use a mobile phone while on the road
Plan ahead how you are going to get home. Are you near a bus route, taxis? Do you have a sober friend who could take you home?
