News, events and information from the Friends of Firth Park for the autumn of 2014.
Tribute to Shelagh Waugh
The Friends of Firth Park would like to say:
It was with great sadness that we heard the news of the death of our good friend Shelagh Waugh on 14th September. Our condolences go to her family. Shelagh was one of the founding members of the Friends of Firth Park, and worked for many years on the improvements we have achieved in the Park. She also ran the Junior Club in the Clock Tower for many years, and helped to start the Women’s Chair Aerobic Keep Fit Class in the Bowling Pavilion. Shelagh also helped revive the Firth Park Summer Festival in 2000, and worked hard each year to keep it going.
National Heritage Day
Friends of Firth Park took part in Heritage Day by opening the Clock Tower on Saturday 13th September for people to come along and look through old photos and books of the Clock Tower, Old Library, Park and surrounding area, along with a chat and refreshments. The Cruck Barn in Concord Park, Upper Wincobank Chapel and St Cuthberts Church also took part in a very enjoyable day.
